Clinical examination of thyroid swelling - An OSCE guide - MBBS, MRCS - Surgery clinics

Clinical examination of thyroid swelling is a very routinely asked practical case in OSCE in MRCS, MRCP, MBBS as well as surgical post-graduate exams and is very important to prepare. This video by Dr. Sasi Mouli demonstrates the complete examination including the specific techniques and methods such as the Pizzillo method, Kocher's test, Pemberton Maneuver as well as Lahey's method.

The video also answers some of the most commonly asked questions on thyroid examination such as features of hypothyroidism, features of hyperthyroidism, features suggestive of retro-sternal extension, and so on. The techniques shown here are very standard including the palpation of neck nodes from back side of the patient and palpation of the thyroid from the back and front.

The video demonstrates hand tremors, movement with deglutition, and movement with protrusion of tongue as well as many other useful tests that need to be performed in clinical examination of thyroid swelling. The video will definitely help all the MBBS, NEET, Postgraduate as well as MRCS and MRCP students in their OSCE preparation and performance.
