Imaging in biliary injuries - Dr. Kaustubh Lokhande - Safety in laparoscopic cholecystectomy webinar

This video is a very simplistic yet succinct review of the imaging modalities that can be undertaken and the factors that need consideration while managing a post-cholecystectomy patient with a possible biliary injury.

Dr. Kaustubh Lokhande takes you on a journey from the basics of bile duct anatomy to the various classifications of bile duct injuries from Bismuth Classification to Strasberg classification to the Stewart way classification and then across the Imaging protocols for biliary imaging such as MRI and CT protocols.

He then discusses cases of biliary injuries and highlights the key imaging aspects of these cases with the help of excellent radiological images. The talk answers the questions such as - does the patient have a post-cholecystectomy complication? If yes, is it a biloma or a hematoma? What is the level of biliary injury? Is there concomitant vascular injury and so on...

He answers the question - A patient has a biliary injury - Now what as far as the imaging options go... and paves the way for the surgical as well as the interventional radiological management of these patients. So, let us dive into this talk and understand the fine details that you need to see in the imaging of these patients.

This video is a part of webinar 3 of the edusurg clinics - safe laparoscopic cholecystectomy and management of biliary injuries. If you have missed out on the other videos of this list, do check them out in the webinar playlist of our channel.
