Nutrition in patients with colon and rectal diseases and ERAS protocols - Nutrition basics - part 2

For part 1 - https://youtu.be/s--koMagliU - Basics of nutrition and Prescribing nutrition on rounds For Nutritional assessment - https://youtu.be/yxe-bJbMXUY - Discusses the basics of nutritional assessment including malnutrition assessment, basics such as sarcopenia, nutritional risk score, and so on.

The current video focuses on the nutritional order prescribing for patients with colorectal diseases with two real-life examples. It begins with a recap of the first video on basic nutrition prescribing for surgery residents as well as practitioners. This is then followed by two clinical vignettes and the key point of these two cases is that the different aspects of the two patients such as comorbidities, surgery in emergency versus elective setting, presence or absence of ileus are issues that help in nutrition prescribing.

Enhanced recovery after surgery protocols or ERAS protocols are very well established in colorectal surgery and these are also touched upon in brief in this video. The early postoperative nutritional initiation is a key in ERAS protocols and this has also been discussed in this video.
