Radiology masterclass on Chronic pancreatitis - Role of CT, MRCP and recent advances - Dr. Amar Suri

This video is a part of our 7th Edusurg Clinics Webinar - Chronic pancreatitis. The video highlights the role of various imaging modalities in the diagnosis as well as the classification of chronic pancreatitis. It is presented by our expert radiologist Dr. Amar Suri.

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) was earlier considered as the gold standard for the diagnosis for CP but today other modalities such as Ultrasonography (US), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) are used to evaluate the structural changes in the parenchyma and pancreatic duct.

CP is manifested on abdominal radiographs as multifocal calcifications in the epigastric region. The role of ultrasound is not very significant now. CT scan and MRI/MRCP form the mainstay of imaging and these are discussed in this radiology masterclass using excellent case examples to drive home the key take-home messages of this talk.

The Cambridge classification is discussed with examples and the characteristic features of head mass in chronic pancreatitis are also discussed. The emerging topic of secretin-based MRCP is also described from basics to its application in patients with chronic pancreatitis.
