Surgery in acute pancreatitis: Case based panel discussion - 1

The video is a part of the webinar on a case-based panel discussion for surgical management of acute pancreatitis. The video features multidisciplinary management of real-life cases of acute pancreatitis including Abdominal compartment syndrome and cholecystectomy for biliary pancreatitis.

The panel highlights the need for multidisciplinary management of these patients. The first case is on the management of abdominal compartment syndrome due to acute pancreatitis and the second case is on biliary pancreatitis. The timing of ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) and the timing of laparoscopic cholecystectomy are discussed and the experiences of the panelists shared.

The role of common bile duct stenting and percutaneous as well as endoscopic gall bladder drainage and their merits and demerits are also discussed. Tips and tricks for performing laparoscopic cholecystectomy in this setting are also discussed. The questions put forth by audiences in the first two cases are also answered and discussed with our experts.
