This is the FIRST VIDEO on the surgical anatomy of anal canal series. Anal canal anatomy can be tricky to understand and that is why this anatomy lecture is going to be a simplified version of anal canal applied anatomy so that you can understand all the terms related to it easily and the schematics are such that they can be reproduced in the exam.

We have divided the anal canal anatomy into few parts and the current video discusses the very basics of what is a surgical anal canal, what is an anatomical anal canal, what is anal verge, anal margin, anal transition zone, and so on... The upcoming videos will discuss the anal canal musculature, blood supply, lymphatic drainage, and innervation in 2-3 parts so stay tuned for them.

All these terms are discussed, defined, and clarified so that it becomes very easy to understand the anal canal anatomy. The Interior of anal canal is also described schematically.
