Chemoport insertion can be performed without general anesthesia and this video answers the basic questions pertaining to chemoport such as What is Chemoport / Chemotherapy port? When and how is it placed and removed? how to take care of chemoport? what is a PICC? why is a chemotherapy portable infusion pump or chemoport preferred over PICC? and so on..

As mentioned in the previous chemoport video, the first step is to explain to the patient the need for chemoport and its post-procedure care followed by

- Ultrasound to mark the anatomical structures especially the compressibility of the internal jugular vein to confirm the anatomy.

- Then, the port is prepared and puncture is taken under sonographic guidance. After this, the guidewire is inserted and position confirmed under C-arm.

- Then, the port chamber is prepared and port anchored with stitches.

- Then tunnel is created and after marking the tube length the tube is inserted over dilator into the internal jugular vein.

The position is confirmed with a C-arm shoot as well as the backflow of blood into the syringe.

This is one of the commonest procedures required for chemotherapy administration and is routinely performed for these patients.
