World Anesthesia Day - Edusurg Clinics - Dr. Falguni Shah: Anesthesia - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

Best wishes to all of you on world anesthesia day from team Edusurg clinics. This conversation is with our senior anesthesia faculty Dr. Falguni Shah, who is a senior consultant anesthesiologist at Lilavati hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The conversation starts with the trivia of why we celebrate world anesthesia day on 16 October and gives true meaning to the 175th Anniversary celebration of Ether day as it is also known.

The conversation begins with a brief description of how the anesthesia techniques have evolved along with technological and academic evolution in the field and how it improves patient care.

At the same time, stress is put on preserving the humane qualities that make us good human beings and a good doctor such as compassion, passion, empathy, and resilience to face tough times and take decisions in the time of duress akin to a pilot in a cockpit.

The video then answers the questions like how to update ourselves in practice, which setup has what advantages and the limitations of each viz. institutional, private and freelancing practice patterns. It then focuses on stress busters and work-life balance and madam's experience helps get some very crystal clear take-home points in these tricky aspects of medical and surgical practice.

The video is definitely for all anesthesiologists, but, at the same time, it will also help each and every MBBS, MS, MD, and DNB student who wishes to embark on the journey of the medical profession so do have a look at this video which highlights the yesterday, today and tomorrow of anesthesia.
